The puppies have doubled their weight. Not so strange, since the two dogs are alone with one mother with lots of milk!
That's why we felt more happy, when Misty started to leave the whelping-box and went elsewhere to rest. First it was on the floor right next to the box, then in the hall, and now in the garden. But as soon as the pups make a sound, she must be let into them. We have a fence blocking the entrance to Misty's room. She doesn't like our other dogs to enter.
We take Misty for longer and longer walks together with the other dogs, and she is getting more relaxed about going. Doesn't have to get home right away. Perhaps this week we can take her for a short walk in the forest.
The pups are in good condition. Misty is a super mother and takes very good care of them - cleaning and caressing them just as she should.
The pigmentation is coming on more and more. The eyes are beginning to look like real eyes, and soon their claws must be cut, so they won't hurt Misty when the pups go for milk.,
They are calm and wonderfull. We enjoy them very much. Of course you can concentrate more on only two puppies than if you had eight. And it is a perfect 'begginers-litter' for Misty.
People have come to see us. Not to visit the puppies, but since they where in the house, they took a glance of them in Misty's room. Misty behaved nicely, but her bodytemperture raised the next day. Not that we can tell for sure that it was stressing her to be interrupted. But anyway, she should have all the peace we can give her, untill she is ready for newcomers
She is in the box with the puppies for a long time every day, as we do other things - in the house or outside the house. She is OK with us going away for an hour or two. But up till now she has been messing a lot around with the blankets in the box, so we have been a bit worried about she small ones. Luckily we have had no reason to worry! Misty tyakes good care of them. And her digging has decreased along with her body-temperature getting back to normal again.
