We joined the Blokhus-Hune dog festival for the first time last year. This year we went there again with a stand and a performance. Birgit arranged with her dog trainer, Vibeke, to come and give examples of obedience lessons for puppies and experienced dogs.
We all met Sunday morning to set up the tent and stand. But we were lucky; the Spaniel Club had let their huge tent stay from Saturday’s show, and they let us use it all Sunday. Great!
As many as 14 Old English Sheepdogs and their families came to the festival.
We all had great space in the huge tent, and lots of visitors were able to get inside for a talk with the dogs and us.
And extra bonus for them was our OES-cookies and candy for both dogs and people.
Our performance was maybe not perfect – since we had not been able to practice in advance. But we gave an impression of what’s going on in an obedience lesson.
All in all we had a great day together with OES-families and their wonderful dogs. Alonso trued the agility-ground, there were dogs on the grooming table, we had puppies playing in the dog-kindergarten, we talked to many people about our wonderful breed – and finally we had lunch together; Birgit and we had made sandwiches.
One event of the day was a baking-competition. Only three cakes joined the game, and Birte was so lucky that her Old English Sheepdogs cake won. The first price was a dinner in a restaurant in Blokus.
We didn’t have time to go there but can go there when we come to the area next time. Something extra to look forward to!
Monday we packed our stuff in the car an drove homewards. On the way we made a short stop in “Den jyske skovhave”. The dogs could run free and we had linch before we drove to the ferry in Aarhus and then home.
