A week passed, and we drove to Provence. Jørgen’s sister Helle has a nice house in Lorgues in the Var District.
As we approached France heavy rain began.
At the highway junction we had to drive for Les Arcs, but the roads were filled with water and transformed to rivers, so we had to find another road. We headed for Draguignan. It went well, even though the rain was really heavy. Up in Draguignan the streets were filled so much with water that it was really hard to go further. We took the car into the waters and managed to get close to the village Lorgues.
Close to Lorgues the traffic stopped. The road was about to break, and the police told us to leave the car in the middle of the road.
It was tough for Maise and Alonso to walk through the heavy waters. When Jørgen fell into a whole in the road Maise refused to walk further. Jørgen had to carry her through the river-road, while Alonso did better with Birte.

We made it to a sport’s hall where we got accommodated together with hundreds of others – soaking wet!
Luckily Helle and Jørgen’s niece Karoline managed to drive down to Lorgues from the other side. They got us safely home to Helle’s house, where Jørgens mother and niece Maria waited with food, dry close and a warm bed.
We picked up the car the next day. It had been removed by the police, but was OK.
We took no pictures of this nightmare. It was too impressive for us.

The next couple of days we were affected by the events. But we had some nice days relaxing in Helle’s house and the great surroundings. We drove to the lake Lac St. Croix one day and had a picnic. Helle’s and our dog had a swim in the lake and enjoyed it. Apparently the deluge had not affected our dogs. That was great!
